Part travelogue, part experimental music video, this triptych is a years-long collaboration with dear friend and composer Kelly Wyse. Sharing images and sounds back and forth, we wove each of these compositions together over long periods of time.
I produced, shot, and edited these music videos for Pollens, a very lovely, but now dispersed Seattle band and sound experiment.
Curious about documentary filmmaking, and also wanting to find a way to engage with communities in places I traveled to, paths led me to Abalimi Bezekhaya in Cape Town, South Africa. This non-profit organization—which teaches urban micro-farming techniques to dwellers of the city’s sprawling townships—needed some help telling their story, and I was looking for a story to tell. Original music by Kelly Wyse.
The product of my ten-day intensive documentary filmmaking workshop at Wild Mind Film Camp, this is the story of two neighboring communes, each at the (seemingly) opposite end of the ideological spectrum.
